Weather conditions update from College Principal

Update from Dai at Coleg Elidyr.

Throughout the night we experienced very high winds and had some trees come down across the college site. These have already been made safe by the maintenance team.

Very little snow, but bitterly freezing temperatures. The road from Llandovery is passible with caution, 4×4 no issues. The road leading down to the college is very icey, we continue to treat the surface with salt, so minimum traffic movement is in place currently.

The college’s snow and ice policy has been activated and is working very well. The 4×4 service we provide between college and Llandovery gives us access to all facilities in the wider community and allows staff to move between the Castle car park and college safely. All necessary staff are in and all houses have full support.

Activities are planned in the houses (I have never seen so many Welsh Cakes being cooked – yummy).
All students are enjoying the break from sessions. Education team are planning some centralised activities for when students start suffering with cabin fever.

I just wanted to let you know everyone here at Coleg is safe and happy. Have a great weekend.
