On Saturday 23rd September, Jonathan Edwards MP and Adam Price AM accepted our invitation to open our new flagship residential home – Ty Pickwick. This twelve bedroom house is a modern, bright, spacious state of the art building. The architectural and interior design fully supports the needs of the young people with multiple and complex learning difficulties and disabilities, including autism.
The downstairs boasts 8 spacious bedrooms, a large communal kitchen and living room. The upper level, with separate access, comprises a flat of 4 bedrooms, again with communal kitchen and living area. The flat helps promote independent living to encourage individuals to transition to their local area in a supported living context.
The College’s fundraising efforts was able to offset the cost of the house by £357,000 which was raised through donations from many generous supporters, to whom we are very grateful.
The college awaits final building insurance certification upon receipt of which students will move in to their new home.
